Samiflex Couplings | Innovative Coupling Solutions

A maintenance free solution proven to reduce premature failure and the expensive cost associated with downtime and spare parts. The coupling is ATEX Approved for intended use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Refer to the ATEX directive in the literature directory.

Only four parts make up the basic coupling:

  • two cast iron or steel hubs
  • one precision cast polyurethane insert
  • one retaining ring from either polyamide or steel

Principal of operation:

Once the hubs are mounted and aligned on the driver and driven shafts the axially split insert is fitted round both hubs and the ring slides over the insert securing both the insert and ring between the hubs. The two retaining screws supplied with the ring are optional. Removal of the coupling is done in reverse and requires no special tools.

Advantages:

  • Requires no lubrication and is maintenance free over the life of the insert (+- 25000 working hours)
  • The axially split insert allows for the removal without moving the driver or driven equipment making it easier and faster than most other coupling designs
  • Inserts are available for shock loads and vibration dampening, high torque and high temperature applications
  • Hubs can be rotated independently so there is no hub wear and the direction of rotation can be checked before fully assembly
  • Mechanically isolates the driven machine for maintenance when insert is removed
  • Suitable for both horizontal and vertical applications
  • Large bore to torque capacity (Max Ø300mm shaft x 200KN.m)
  • Standard couplings and spacer designs, SAE flywheel and custom mounting arrangements also available
  • Inserts are not affected by UV light and do not degrade like rubber inserts therefore they have a longer operational life and an indefinite shelf life

Innovative Coupling Solutions also provide other couplings solutions:

Easy Installation: No special tools are required and the axially split insert is installed around the hubs once they are correctly positioned on the shafts. The insert can be quickly changed out without moving and realigning the driver and driven equipment.

Flexible: The 95 Shore A (Yellow) polyurethane insert is the standard and offers a high torque value while remaining flexible. A softer insert for increased vibration dampening and shock absorption is also available. The Samiflex insert is rated for 80°C and also available in high temperature for 140°C.

Long lasting: The average insert life is 25000 working hours or (3 years). The Samiflex insert is not affected by UV light, mineral oils or grease and do not degrade and break down like rubber inserts.

Durable: The inserts are individually cast from a special blend of polyurethane, baked & cured. This process ensures the integrity of the insert is not compromised and the performance remains.

Maintenance free: No grease or oil lubrication is required over the life of the coupling.

Small to large torque: Applications from double digits up to 200,000N.m torque and available with shaft ranging from Ø8mm to Ø300mm.
